We did have a big scare here- they have made drastic changes to flights, what you can bring on, etc. We are on RED alert now, too.
After hearing from my mom it sounds like much more of a pain to fly out of here. Absolutely no carry on, except certain items (passport, wallet, glasses w/out case, contacts no solution, baby formula which has to be tasted) that you can put in a clear bag. Imagine flying over the ocean without a book, toys for baby or pacifier, extra clothing, music, WATER BOTTLE!! That is one LONG flight. Must be really hard for people with small children.
